I believe our dear overseer mentioned the producers might have some sway over the matches. And if that's the case, don't you think there might be some priority placed in theatrics? Viewership retention is important for those higher-ups. So I think a pair with clashing personalities might not be a bad choice. Even better if the clash is dramatic.
Not to put anyone on the spot, but as it seems our esteemed producers have done their research on us, then they may have taken our preferences for partners into account. If someone's only into men or women exclusively, or has a strong leaning, that eliminates about half the potential matches for them, at the very least.
