Maybe we should keep track of who's willing to volunteer?
[ In the case they don't think of a good guess? Yingying blinks slowly, drowsy where she's draped over the couch. Like hell she's missing out on this conversation, though. Don't mind her while she sleepily rubs at one of her eyes. ]
I'm willing to, of course... I can accompany anyone who's feeling shy.
Interested in hearing who I have eyes for, hm? Trying to see your chances at wooing me?
[ She teases, beaming. It's playful, not arrogant — more like she's trying to put him on the spot and fluster him than that she's truly convinced that's what he was doing. ]
[ ???? where did he even come from... she laughs at his sudden appearance, entertained. ]
Verso was just talking about who might be a good match for me, [ you did this to yourself yi sang, she can't hold herself back ] I guess that's why you thought to appear out of nowhere?
[ just accuses yi sang of having a crush on her in front of everybody... it's too fun to tease these types, and he gave her the perfect opening for it. ]
Odd, isn't it, how the young are shy when it comes to directness?
[ Please. Odile sips her tea, all the more relaxed for it. ]
When a bottle tells them to kiss another, they follow without question. But left to their own devices, they find it harder to narrow down -- or perhaps unwilling to put themselves in such a position, even when we haven't a starting point.
[ It's soooooo funny, Yingying. She is having the time of her life watching them. It does sound like she may have her own ideas to speak on, but she doesn't yet. ]
[ You're all shy. Say who you want to go in with and be done. ]
Of course everyone does. We've scarcely begun to know one another. Conflicts and dislikes will arise later, if they have not done so now, so I see little issue with simply saying who one might like to step in with whether it's correct or not.
[ It isn't particularly logical, no, but-- ]
If we have a starting point, be it right or wrong, then we can build off of that. Or, rather than fixating on affections... who would feel suitable for our future? Whether as a lover or not, compatibility need include goals or plans that lie in the same direction, or at the very least don't overlap poorly.
Well, yeah. Exactly! That's where we're all starting.
[Ringo just tilts her head at that, expression mildly bemused.]
Trying to figure out the algorithm and what sorts of things they're looking for. Brute-forcing it isn't particularly elegant, but when we don't have a lot of variables yet, we gotta work with what we've got.
So! Suggestions I've heard so far: stress testing opposites attract, or loud and quiet together. People with strong personalities and their preferences, or the pickier more reserved sorts and what they like. We gotta talk about sexual preferences and also if anyone here doesn't wanna be matched with someone who's not human, too.
I think that covers everything? At least, for what we've discussed so far.
[ .... but wasn't Odile one of the ones not even playing spin the bottle? Some would even accuse out of shyness, though she's sure it has more to do with her not being the outgoing type. ]
Maybe? I made a deal with Verso to exchange saying those we're interested in. I'm happy to play with you too, sweetheart, if you want to brainstorm some ideas. How's that for overcoming "the youth?"
[ Since she's not shy, it shouldn't be a problem, right? Let's get these starting points a-cookin!!! ]
[ So mysterious... she wants to know more...... at the same time, she's not even being upfront about any of the reasons she is here, so she figures Odile is also allowed to keep that much to herself. ]
Verso did say Nico first when he mentioned who he was interested in, that's true. But you shouldn't let that stop you from looking for that "particular" thing in him. He could be looking for something in particular, too.
[ She seems the pragmatic sort, and maybe that's the kind of head they need for the guessing. Yingying taps a finger to her chin. ]
As for me, hmmm.... Luka left an impression. [ Was it a good one??? Hard to say. But it was probably the strongest impression made, for better or worse. Her feelings towards him are more different than any other contestant, maybe because their interaction felt more like a struggle for dominance, a show of their unusual adaptability to the show, than any usual introduction. Yingying was surprised to see another contestant so easily taking up the mantle — she thought she'd surely have the easiest time of them all. ] I'd like to learn more about him, at the very least.
It's very kind of you to volunteer, Miss Yingying. Your bravery's admirable. But I wonder if there's anyone in particular you'd be interested in taking with you? Someone you've had a particularly [ hm, what word to use ] energetic conversation with, maybe?
Ringo seemed to think the same thing was a good idea. Me picking someone, that is... so long as I'm not stepping on anyone's toes.
[ She blinks a little owlishly, surprised that fate is falling to her, unless a better idea arises. It's the first week, so it'll give everyone a peace of mind if someone confidently goes in, right? She does want to watch over everyone's hearts. ]
There are plenty of people I get along with, and getting to know everyone has been so fun and thrilling...
[ There's something of a sense of... sheltered-ness to the way she describes it, perhaps a different facet of her confident, forward personality. Not that she isn't those things, too. But one gets the sense that despite her ease and charm, there's still tons she hasn't experienced in life in full. ]
Do you think how "energetic" our talks were is the best trait to go off of?
Considering how, uh, [redacted] her [redacted] is, she sounds quite innocent about all this. Give him a brief second to consider his angle of approach before he responds; despite everything, he manages to keep his tone of voice and delivery in the same weirdly deadpan, languid drawl as always. ]
I don't know if it's the best trait, exactly, but ... do you happen to enjoy gossip, by any chance?
[ Yingying is clueless about how [redacted] her [redacted] is to him, so she can only blink at that pause he takes to respond. Before smiling at the question, of course. ]
It depends on the kind... if it's all just for fun, then of course.

But there might not be a lot of people willing to volunteer, right? I guess I meant that more as an encouragement for the people who are unsure...

[???]
From where I'm standing, it just seems like everyone likes everyone else too much. Seems like a double-edged sword to me.

I am seeking something in particular here, though I decline to say more than that. In that line of thinking, however, I have found a few people whom I feel would suit well enough on the impressions they have made upon me thus far. Verso is highest on that list and would be the one I would choose to volunteer with, if he was amenable to it -- though I understand he and Nicodéme share a connection of a kind as well.
[ Simply put.
... Like, "interested" is a strong word and so she isn't using it, but. Can't say Odile isn't blunt. ]
