It sounded like he'd had some unpleasant encounters with certain people. I was wondering if maybe the producers would do something with that. Though I'm not sure if they can switch the matches on such quick notice, or if they're already set in stone.
This isn't just a guess. Mr. Nico is apparently quite a fan of this show, and mentioned -- 'drama matters just as much as genuine feelings.' He doesn't seem the type to make wild conjectures, so I have to imagine some decisions were very obviously made just for the sake of drama.
So even if we rule out your conversation with Edamura-san as something that would entice the producers, I think it's a factor worth keeping in mind.
True... you'd have to ask him which people he was talking to, though. Probably with anyone who wasn't entirely "normal", but I didn't see his freakouts personally.
