[ It's so bright in here... are these two going to be okay.
In any case, Shoko's browsing the menu. And like. Of course there wouldn't be any booze on the menu here, but it still takes her a long while to consider what to order given the overwhelming sweetness of most everything on here... ]
Hoh? They have savory dishes, too. I thought it would be all pudding, heh. What are you in the mood for, Yi Sang?
Yi Sang and Rom are taken to an ice cream parlor. A little old fashioned chic mixed with modern day decor, this is perfect place to get to know each other more.
Highlights
The ice cream is made from organic cream mixed with house made ingredients.
There are other things like waffles and hot chocolate on the menu.
[It is haunted, and Yi Sang hasn't a clue. On the bright side, he himself isn't haunted by spirits (he only looks like it), so Rom at least doesn't need to worry about that.
In any case, Yi Sang lags after Rom to let the latter enter the parlor first.]
[It is still odd to him that Aventurine should want this outing at all; however, it aligns with his view of the man, at whom he glances once they've entered the mall. He's also in sweats and slippers still.]
We appear to be spoiled for choice. Where shall we go first?
That is, if he can pull his attention away from this place's... everything. He's seen a lot of strange things in his time, but nothing quite compares to the kitschy, lurid brightness of this mini golf course.
Verso squints in the black light. Via the nature of it, the streak of white in his own hair glows, too, hilariously.]
Luka and Maya are taken to the aquarium. It's a massive place, filled with all sorts of creatures you can imagine. There's even a mermaid exhibit! Are... are those actual mermaids?
Highlights
Those are actual mermaids.
There is a giant octopus that takes up most of an exhibit.
[ first things first, fit, but instead of the black breaking up the white, it's a baby blue. luka is also accessorized up with a few rings on his fingers and a pair of expensive looking sunglasses on his head. he'll take maya's hand within his own as soon as the crew drops them off (no, he doesn't ask if he can because he's luka). ]
What do you think? [ while his expression is one of this typical neutral ones, if you listen closely... there might be a note of excitement? ]
[ a spa date calls for a rather simple outfit, though for luka this means he's clad in complete white rather than black. he'll start to walk in with a natural confidence of something he's done countless before. ]
Do you think they're trying to tell you something?
[ what's a taco bell. luka has no idea and all the crew would tell him was that it was a casual date, so he shows up dressed in this. which isn't a bad fit all things considered, but too bad he's a bad fit himself for a taco bell. in so many ways. ]
[ they're not a match, but they're aesthetic as fuck. and isn't that what truly matters? that seems to be what luka has in mind when he shows up dressed like this at way too early in the morning, perfectly put together as always.
he'll offer her his arm as he's done in the past. ]
Luka and Poppy are taken to a planetarium. Large space views, deep soothing narration, comfy recliners — it's everything you could want from a planetarium.
Highlights
The allow snacks inside. Go get some refreshments!
The food stand has plenty of green candy.
There might be some errors(?) in the presentation, showing things that aren't just in the Milky Way.
Nico and Aventurine are taken Go-Kart Racing. Two elegant guys like them, of course the production wanted to see them fumble. But they can make it work, right?
Highlights
There is a snack bar with pizza and burgers.
You will be yelled at if you don't drive properly.
[ Joke’s on you, production team. Nico is a science fiction vampire, he knows how to drive. He’s also casting Aventurine a sidelong glance with a smirk. ]
Nico and Shoko are taken to pick up trash at the beach. They will be put in volunteer vests, given trash bags and pick up sticks, and sent along their way.
Highlights
This is NOT a punishment. This is a volunteer opportunity.
There will be sandwiches and juice boxes given out afterwards.
You could literally just bail and walk the boardwalk tho.
Nico and Odile are taken to a painting class. The teacher is a sweet old man who has been painting for years and years and years. The other students vary in ages. Everything is rather quaint.
Highlights
There's no alcohol allowed in the class.
Some of the other students are pretty chatty.
But production will let Nico and Odile get a meal nearby after if they're hungry
[ Painting... Something Nico favors, and something she has never once done herself. The other students seem to either already be familiar with one another or are naturally friendly -- neither of which Odile particularly minds, but she seems more focused on staring at the various shades afforded to them and the supplies besides than making friends.
Brush, palette, some kind of... paint knife? For scooping and mixing the shades, she sees. The canvas feels nice against her fingertips, and the simple instruction of "paint your favorite scene" seems far harder than it is.
While others have begun, hers remains blank. ]
I presumed this was more of a solo activity than one done among fellows.
[ When there's a lull among whatever conversations Nico's been caught up in, the students with varying levels of concentration. Odile isn't... uncomfortable, but she does seem out of her element. ]
Verso and Aventurine are taken to the casino. It's a high end, high stakes kind of casino which is membership exclusive. Thankfully, production got them an in and they're able to enter.
Highlights
It's black tie exclusive, better dress up!
They'll be given chips worth 5,000 credits / chroma to start.
Verso glances about — this place is loud and lively, the chiming of slot machines ringing out in the background, but it's not an unfamiliar concept to him, either.]
The Gestrals were building one of these. Never got to see the inside...
He has a feeling he's in over his head with this one, but he offers Maya the occasional grin regardless, taking it in stride. They've been given the rules and instructions from one of the staff members thus far, and Verso pops the racing helmet onto his head.
Not precisely what he had in mind when it came to... a date, but it's beyond his realm of experiences that he finds it fascinating.]
...Look at this strawberry.
[It's a free sample, and he holds it up to offer it to Messmer. Bright and pristine, and these guys are crazy for handing them out for free because it's probably one of those 20-dollar strawberries.]
Verso and Nico are taken to karaoke. They'll be given a private room where they can order snacks and drinks and the selection features all music known to man. And then some!
Highlights
The menu highlight is melon cream soda.
There is a really loud couple in the room next door.
He side-eyes the sound from next door, loud obnoxious laughing heard even over the thrumming of music. Besides that, though, it seems like a fun activity, though the current staff seems... stressed for some reason.]
Sooo... singing. A shame our actual singers aren't here.
[Oh, this is nice. They're ushered to a quiet little table under low lighting, and jazz music drifts through the air as a server comes to take their drink order. Once that's sorted, he leans back somewhat, taking in the ambiance.]
I like the music.
[why does it remind him of monoco for some reason-]
[BRIGHT. LOUD. WHY IS EVERYTHING BRIGHT AND LOUD. We'll just say the producers said they're arranging the train museum date and this will have to tide them over in the meantime bc jen forgor
Still, it looks like fun. The smell of cheap pizza (but not bad!) wafts through the air. Old school games on one end, huge fancy arcade cabinets on the other.]
[Oh, he likes these vibes. Again, he's reminded a little bit of the Gestral Village, and while thinking of the past like that always ushers in a bit of melancholy, he's in a good enough mood to mostly enjoy it for what it is.]
Shoko! Did you see the sign?
[There's one, hung up behind the bar, that details the Infamous Punch Bowl Challenge.]
Verso and Yingying are taken to a fancy garden party. It looks like something pulled from the pages of Martha Stewart. There's a good group of people around and live music and it's just... it's nice, is all.
Highlights
They'll be offered the opportunity to change into appropriate attire before the date.
Aventurine and Maya are taken to a fancy buffet. There are 500 different things on the menu. There is fresh crab. There are so many things! And it's all paid for by production.
Highlights
There is a dress code though, so no hoodies for Maya.
The time limit is a generous three hours.
They might overhear some gossiping elites, perhaps.
Aventurine and Yingying are taken to Build-a-Bear Workshop. There is a special today, where for some reason, Aventurine and Yingying will be able to dress their stuffed animals in their exact same outfits. How the hell did production pull that off?
Highlights
It's Build-a-Bear but there are other animals too! Even some from their home worlds.
There is a place to make a stuffed tree too. What.
This Build-a-Bear has an attached cafe so you can have coffee with your new stuffed friend afterwards.
[ These toys! They're so cute! Upon arrival, she practically beelines for where there are already completed toys, having not seen stuffed animals like this before. There were wooden carved toys, and pillows her in time... but nothing close to this detailed or extravagant. They even have little outfits for them! In contrast to the way Yingying generally acts, she tends to have a sense of sheltered wonder whenever she experiences things from the "modern" world, innocent in her curiosity. ]
Look, it's dressed like you... how handsome he looks.
[ She turns the finished bear to him, who is very cutely wearing Aventurine's default outfit. He even has stylish little glasses on!!!! ]
