week three | mingle
No outright changes this week either. Week three rolls around, braced for impact as ever. The estate is still intact, the contestants are still motivated, things are looking good.
Well, aside from the fact you all had a blackout this weekend. That wasn't so good.
Either way, when Monday rolls around, Wei Wuxian seems to be in a cheery mood as he greets everyone Monday morning.
"Everyone, come here, come here. I have an announcement!"
Better go see what that's about, huh?

That's quite the accusation, Miss Serpilia. I'm not suspicious.

So you're saying it's not you?

[ She won't rub in his suspiciousness too much longer though. ]
At least you're not the macaroni person.
no subject
The water splashes a little; she's shifting around either sheepishly or in surprise.]
Ahem... Maybe "macaroni person" was just being economical. It's a different meal every time you add a new sauce, isn't it?
[Ever think about Furina [redacted] for 500 years but completely cannot maintain any composure about completely ridiculous and stupid things?]
no subject
Wait.
Her expression tightens up, even though she's still technically smiling. ]
Hold on a second. Don't tell me...
[ Ahaha...
Ah fuck. ]
no subject
[DEFENSIVELY!!!]
Why would that be worse than being threatened with indictment so many times, anyway?
[Send this hatless goth straight to the fortress.]
no subject
[ Is this a good thing to admit.
Also girl, don't you work for the government?? ]
brief depresso mention
I'm afraid to ask just what kind of booby-trap you set up on your luggage.
[She tugs at the top of her bathing suit, uselessly, then sinks down very deeply into the water. Maybe she'll overheat in here.]
... At the time, I was incredibly despondent. I didn't have the Salon to assist me, nor did I have any desire to get out of bed or be seen in public some days. [And she didn't want to bend too much to Neuvilette's handouts.] It was a safe thing to learn to make.

And the fact that most of her planet doesn't have advanced tech probably means that Serpilia's hacking tendencies for shits and giggles doesn't actually mean much to her.
She smiles a little at the mention of her luggage, though it disappears quickly as Furina starts talking. Putting the cards down, Serpilia will move to slide into the water alongside her. ]
You know, most of the rest of these are told in a pretty jokey way, so I was kind of assuming they were silly sort of "haha" facts about us, but considering the situation behind my own...
[ A small frown. The situation that caused it hadn't been funny at all, nor did she think the fact was particularly amusing, even if she would fess up to it. The show did tend to take some low blows sometime. ]
Honestly, the fact that you were able to keep taking care of yourself like that is pretty impressive.
[ Macaroni for every meal or not. ]

She pushes a little water in Serpilia's direction, probably using her Vision more than she actually pushes it with her hands.] Oh, it's fine, don't you look so glum about it.
It's not exactly like I feel ashamed about it. [She's embarrassed to have it called out and mocked, and she doesn't like having a lot of attention on her living conditions. So it's..ashamed, but now. Whatever falls between the two.] My macaroni is some of the best you've ever tasted, guaranteed!
It's no terrible secret...but it sounds as if you're bothered that yours was put here, too. [Not that she has to expose herself. Furina is offering a branch of sympathy.]
no subject
In that case, when we get back to the manor you should make me some so I can try it.
[ A small laugh, well... it seems fair since she made fun of Furina without realizing the depth of what she was going through. ]
I'm the person that was scheming up something with my obnoxious, shitty coworker. It uh... fortunately didn't go through in the end. Some things happened, and I realized a little too late to stop it myself that what had originally seemed like a prudent idea might get a lot of innocent people hurt, but fortunately some other people stepped up in time to stop us.
no subject
Sure, I'll prepare a big pot for you. You should tell me what variety of sauce you like on yours.
[She wasn't expecting Serpilia to share her secret so easily; secrets are well-guarded by so many and often for good reason. So much of her life had been one.
Furina turns, leaning against the wall of the bath so she can rest her cheek against her arms.]
Scheming is a word burdened with some very specific connotations. What were you trying to accomplish that made you work with them?
no subject
[ She's not a picky girl on that front. Most pasta sauces are pretty good.
She almost wants to keep talking about the sauces instead, but she was the one that brought up her secret to try to make them even, so... ]
The main thing I wanted was to make sure a friend of mine was safe and sound after she'd gone missing for months, but Oren, the shithead coworker, really managed to convince me that there was a lot more danger afoot than there was.
[ A frown as she thinks about it. It's hard to explain without the background, but she doesn't want to get into the whole history of the Sankta and the Sarkaz right now. ]
Or maybe that's not right to say. The situation did get pretty dicey there for a bit, but the danger wasn't coming from the source he assumed, so our actions wouldn't have actually been all that helpful.

[Serpilia likes sweeter tastes, so maybe there's a sauce that can be robust while still indulging her sweet tooth. Furina will need to dwell on a good surprise for her, but for now she needs to focus her mind on listening to the story of Serpilia's secret. It's something important to hear, after all.]
It's such a strange thought that washed over me, but... Even if it would have failed, I get the sense that you're never recognized for trying to help and protect people, Serpilia. And maybe...that you'd rather not see it made into a big deal.
[Though it feels wrong for it to not be noticed, for her not to get the positive attention that she deserves.]
no subject
I just don't really think I can take credit for most of it. The hard work was done by other people I work with. Not really Oren...
[ Fuck that guy, seriously. ]
Though I guess he helped some, but it was mostly Federico and Lemuen, though Richele helped some too despite himself.
no subject
[ Girl, you need lying lessons so bad. ]
no subject
You'd have to ask them! I, for instance, like a tomato sauce or the classic cheese...but I've started experimenting with my own recipes lately.
no subject
no subject
Why, yes, thank you for asking! I like to keep it simple, but I enjoy trying new flavors. [When food becomes experimental just for the point of being experimental...then it just seems silly and gross to her, is what Furina is saying.] I've come up with some very unexpected combinations!
no subject
How nice. It's always good to try new things, isn't it? And these unexpected combinations sound interesting. What kinds of things have you been experimenting with?
no subject
Harra Fruit and fish jelly. [She says this with some pride and that genuine self-satisfaction of someone who thinks they've come up with a really good idea, so she must be serious about it.]
