week four | mingle
Final week at the estate! Final week with your friends. Final week with your beaus. Time to make the most of it, everyone!
In fact, to celebrate this fact, today there is a cake. It's nothing special, just a nice little cake to enjoy with your morning coffee or throughout the day. Yay, cake!
And when Wei Wuxian arrives that morning, he is going to call out once again for everyone to join him, near the cake.
"Everyone, I have another announcement!"
Hell yeah, announcements.

I would also hope so. That level heads will prevail, despite this sudden plot twist. Though ... [ A soft exhale. ] -- being able to think like that may be a privilege, in this situation.
[ It has not escaped his notice that some of these secrets are a lot more digestible than others. Serpilia, he'd guess from her reaction, is not one of the heaviest hitters, but even the 'lighter' secrets here aren't pleasant. He doesn't want to assume what those with the heavier burdens are going through right now. ]

The worst one........
Might be one only Serpilia can kind of understand, considering the horrendous relationship between the Sankta and the Sarkaz, although thankfully it hasn't gone that far. ]
You think so? I don't know... You might be right about that, but I'm not so sure it's for the reason you think.

... I won't pry about anything you don't wish to talk about.
[ He's curious. Of course she is. Anyone would be, given such a cryptic statement. But for as blunt as he can be, Rom isn't a monster; he knows people have lines they don't want crossed. ]

[ A frown as she thinks of how to condense this. ]
About Messmer's admission... Uhm, let's just say the Sankta are known for being pretty content and living pretty good lives while being pretty good neighbors, but there's some troubled history between us and a group known as the Sarkaz.
[ No, history doesn't really cover it considering... ]
It's still not a good relationship to this day, though I've met a number of individual Sarkaz, and we're all just people at the end of the day. My opinions aren't really going to change the stance of my nation's as a whole though.

You'd make a perfectly fine teacher. I think I understand what you're getting at.
[ He gets the sense that she's giving him a highly condensed version here, but that's fine. It's just enough to serve as context, so he'll take it.
That said ... Rom gives a slow exhale, gaze sliding over towards Messmer's hulking figure. Though his demeanor remains as calm and unflappable as ever, his voice is toned down to something a touch more somber. ]
Our dear overseer emphasized to me Lord Messmer's age. After a certain point, age can change the very way you view things -- to a degree that morals might see as impossible. Not that that would lessen the gravity of what he's done, but ... it may be difficult for us to fully understand his viewpoint.

[ Given most of them are Sarkaz. ]
But I can imagine that the way the world feels to them is different for the rest of us, at least after a certain number of regular human lifespans.
