So the Spear of Longinus is sort of like a religious and mythological artifact of sorts, made contact with the skin of a holy man who was crucified.

Eventually, a rumor spread for thousands of years that getting pierced by it would lead to relentless bleeding that couldn't be stopped or healed at all.

[ phew, imagine that had happened twice? pretty much what's going through luka's head at the moment. ]

Hmmm... [ he could say a lot of things, but instead he simply dips down to press a quick kiss between their lips. ]

I can't really say it was me, since it was sort of my fault that the world ended in the first place. It was the kids who were with me who chose to make a different reality.

[ Well yes from ending, Maya!! Shoko almost levels an unimpressed look at that, but thankfully Maya offers more without Shoko having to prod. ]

Ended? So the world had effectively ended, but the kids rewrote it?

Yeah, it was a prophecy. So in order to undo all of that, they had to make a choice to forget each other. And me. And the events that had led up to this, including us meeting each other years ago.

... what a relief, then, that the rumors weren't true.

No, unfortunately, they were!

I see ... did the 'rewriting reality' part fix that problem, then?

In a sense. It made it so that I was never killed and the world never ended as a result. It sort of created a separate reality, rather than rewriting it entirely.

But it also means the kids who made that choice... never met me. Or each other. They had to choose to give up their memories.

All this, created from the power of rumors . . . Are you well now, Miss Maya?

Well, in a way it technically never happened. But I have the memory and the mark from it.

[ Because life is rude. ]

... I ran into someone who held onto his memory. And because of that, things that were supposed to not have happened kept occurring.
