[ Serpilia is going to split the difference of their little trio here. She's not gobsmacked into silence while watching robot on robot violence, but she's not as clearly hyped for this as Poppy.
Mostly because she's busy trying to study the robots the best she can from where she's sitting, brow furrowed and a frown on her face as she tries to get a good look at their arms while they're in motion. ]
I doubt it, it doesn't look like they're built to be capable of the kind of additional force you'd need for something like that.
[ A pause as she tilts her head in consideration. ]
Unless they intentionally built the necks to disconnect on contact for shock value.
But she's nodding along, regardless. Taking mental notes on fighting styles, because maybe it'll be applicable for her to use in a creative focus down the line. It's just... ]
Oh, yeah. I guess I'm more used to making this sort of thing happen virtually, where you could have them explode, get all of their little roboty guts everywhere.
[ Hm. Sitting back in her seat now, more analytical. ]
But I guess it's also cheaper when it's just code.
[ She hasn't gotten to code in weeks now... an involuntary twitch of her fingers, but then she's contemplating the fight before them, blissfully silent. ]
[ Serpilia nods in agreement with Yi Sang even offering an extremely helpful and descriptive "mmhm" at what he's saying.
She will finally look up at Poppy after she admits her dreams of robot carnage are likely not the most realistic. ]
Also imagine the cleanup. Oil is a pain to get out of things.
[ Then back to the robots. ]
Besides, I'd hate to see something that brutal happen to these little guys. I work with some robots back home, and they're all friendly and helpful. It'd be sad to see them go out that way.
[ And yet, Poppy is going to jump in and answer anyway, tilting her head as she watches the robots going at it. ]
Maybe? Depends what intelligence you're thinking of. Like, if they can recognize patterns so they can adapt to one another's fighting style, sure. But it's not like they're going to have emotions and stuff like Serpilia's little guys.
[ She assumes. A beat. ]
How fucked up would that be if you were building them just to fight, and then you program them to feel pain?
I'm not sure if it's emotions exactly, but they're pretty smart and think and act independently. They're robots still, so it's not the same thing as human feelings regardless.
[ She does frown thoughtfully at the last question Poppy asks though. ]
["Like Serpilia's little guys" is the true answer to his question. Serpilia clarifies their nature further, and Yi Sang lets the matter go there, satisfied.
However, he can't answer her question to Poppy in full confidence. And so, to Poppy:]
[ A beat. The robots are taking one another's blows like champs, though. There's nothing that could indicate they're feeling pain, as far as she can tell, which is admittedly not the most far.
[ It's hard to say from beings that aren't designed to have facial expressions. Then again, they're also not usually designed to have nerve endings, so they're probably in the clear on this one.
She does frown a little at Yi Sang's choice of words, not sure how to feel about that, but she doesn't comment on it right now. ]
It doesn't seem like they're distressed, but I admit I'm not that well versed at reading robots.
[A robot is repelled by its opponent mid kick and all but flops onto the floor face-first. The crowd goes wild while one of the operators at the edge of the ring stomps a foot in frustration.]
. . . One has fallen.
[Said robot shows no sign of discomfort as it slowly climbs back onto its feet with remarkable deftness.]

The presence of a headgear and the rigid construction of the joints suggest that the head is meant to neither come off nor extend . . .

Are they perchance artificially intelligent?

They definitely wouldn't do that, right?
[ They couldn't be that mean. ]

It would be nothing short of the devil's work.

Probably not these guys though.
