Kiss the girl~!

Or guy.

Or person.

Or Messmer's snake.

I am. If you are to encourage me to try my hand at something so ridiculous, I will expect you to do the same. We may report to one another about our success, or lack there of, at a later date.

[ When both of them fumble... ]

[THE WAY SHE ASSUMES IT'LL BE A FUMBLE???]

. . . I did already ask to spend more time with her.

[he didn't say "date" but he did think it! her and Shoko!]

I don't really have any expectations. I just think she's nice. We could. . . I don't know. Have a good time together.

[. . .]

So I don't know how it'll go! But if you're that curious, I'll tell you.

[ Good man, taking initiative. Isabeau could learn a thing or two. ]

I will be glad to hear, since I am sorely lacking in entertainment otherwise.

[ Her own fault, since she isn't asking after everyone. Just Edamura really. Surely there are others to cheer on, with actual chances, ]

Now, if I may ask you a different sort of question, Edamura. [ ... ] When did you last take a vacation, and where?
ordimame: (94)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
[oh my god]

You should be paying me if I'm keeping you this enthralled.

[said simply with another sip of tea]

. . . and technically I was on one before I decided to join this show. South Korea.
researcherstory: (pic#17791776)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ A sip of tea, amused. Her company is payment enough.

Also, South Whom. ]

... I see.

[ But in that "I'll take your word for it". ]

And what is South Korea like?
ordimame: (04)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
[SHE ASKED???]

[but he laughs, having expected that follow up question]

I was in Seoul for a bit. The nation's capital. It's bustling. Busy! So jam-packed with people you can barely breathe while you're walking down the street.
researcherstory: (pic#17791778)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ Dryly: ]

How pleasant. You truly make it sound attractive, Edamura. I want to do nothing more than visit.

[ Not, good lord. ]

How is their literature?
ordimame: (123)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
I take it you're really not a city person.

[he sounds amused]

. . . I actually don't know too much about Korean literature. Varied, I assume? Some good with some bad?
researcherstory: (pic#17791789)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
No, not particularly. Even the capital of Vaugarde doesn't sound so... stifling.

[ Suffocating. Ugh. So many people. ]

Also. You're useless. A city's literature is the first thing you should consume, Edamura, even before its food. How else are you to understand its people?
ordimame: (122)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[what the hell is Vaugarde]

Iiiii could always just talk to them?

[he is an academic AND YET. . .]
researcherstory: (pic#17791776)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ Wouldn't you like to know, bean boy. ]

... You are more extroverted than I assumed.
ordimame: (126)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[AMUSED]

You're really surprised? My line of work has me dealing with people on a regular basis, you know.

[their next serving of tea is being steeped! Edamura inhales the scent, letting it out very slowly]

. . . but we're talking a lot about me. I get to ask you some questions too, right?
researcherstory: (pic#17791765)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Dealing with people is different. She also deals with people. That doesn't mean she enjoys it. Ignoring all her enjoyment she's had here. ]

If you'd like. But I prefer to ask, not answer.

[ But she will answer, since... he has answered her, and they have a rhythm she's fond of, watching their next serving. ]
ordimame: (106)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
So do I! That's why this-- [gestures between them] -- works so well.

[but he does sober a bit, because he thinks his question might be a little more on the serious side]

Your profile said something about "saving the world." What was that about?

[he only didn't ask the other night because his brain was still rewiring itself]
researcherstory: (pic#17791776)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This... Please. Yes, that is why they work so well. ]

Oh, that. [ nbd ] I recently helped to save a country from being frozen in time.
ordimame: (124)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[. . . yeah. nbd]

Oh.

. . . that's cool. And completely normal. Totally happens all the time.
researcherstory: (pic#17791763)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
No, please, let loose. It wasn't even normal there. My world doesn't see strife as oft as many others.

[ It's just because it's Odile that she tells it so. ]
ordimame: (115)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[oh thank god]

-- what the hell?! How do you even freeze an entire country in time!! Even if-- [ugh] -- even if magic is "real" that's completely insane!!
researcherstory: (pic#17791791)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Her puppy is so funny. ]

It was thought impossible by most as well, with only a few texts that explained the concept in theory. I have been studying it for a few months now as a result.
ordimame: (17)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to replicate it, I hope.

[please don't go around freezing entire societies in time, Odile. please]
researcherstory: (pic#17791776)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I would die if I tried.

[ More seriously. ]
ordimame: (75)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-12 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, then definitely don't do it!

-- why would you die??

[man who has no idea how magic works in any universe]
researcherstory: (pic#17791791)

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-12 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A simple way to put it...

... is right before them, actually. ]

As water is used and discarded, so is the heat. Crafts, the "magic" of my world, act the same. It pulls from the user, intent, energy, and will in one. Using Time Craft would drain a person's life near instantaneously, particularly because it asks the known laws to bend. Even going back in time a few seconds would cause someone to pass out, or so its theorized. Make sense?
ordimame: (11)

[personal profile] ordimame 2025-06-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)

So someone died freezing that whole country in time? Then what was the point!!
researcherstory: (pic#17791763)

1/2

[personal profile] researcherstory 2025-06-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
No, he lived. That's why we were unable to undo it.

[ "Did he survive to the end?" Let's not talk about that. ]

Worry not, Edamura. No one can manage it a second time -- the use of Time Craft was thanks to something very specific, though I am not at liberty to speak on it. Even though I very much understand it both how and why.

[ She literally Gets It All but she isn't spilling. ]
