[Does he want some of her athletic dates? By this time, which must surely be at least a little later in the week, Furina's muscles are so sore. But she's being very brave about it! After all, she's much more athletic than she appears on the surface. This fish feast is her well-earned reward.]

Since production has so graciously offered to cover the bill, that's exactly what we shall do! And if nothing suits our tastes, I'm sure they'll make to order. Think of it as all-you-can-eat! Oh, some of it might be raw, so if you don't want those, just leave them.

[That should about cover it... a simple yes or no would have equally sufficed, but Furina feels like she's covered everything and more.]

[Verso's eaten so... much... as of late, that's he's lucky he's a man who appreciates good food for what it is, being deprived of it for overlong ever since he became the equivalent of a vagrant on the Continent. He won't complain. This four weeks are temporary and fleeting, anyway, and it's a blessing if they're full to the brim with decent meals.]

I don't mind raw.

[Can you imagine some of the things he's eaten while traveling? Even if he technically doesn't have to eat at all.]

So, you have places like this where you're from? Where was it... Fontaine?

Not that I'm aware of, though we've some very innovative chefs who would try and turn it into a spectacle.

[To be fair, until fairly recently, her dining options were usually much finer and personalized. Who knows if Fontaine doesn't have a very obscure law about being unable to serve food that's moving, too? Novelty is one thing, but what matters is that the food and the service are the best.]

Make no mistake: I'll be bringing the idea back with me. Maybe I'll even offer my sponsorship, hehe... oh, but that kind of endeavor would wind up racking up expenses. [Cheeks puffing out a little, she soothes the burn of knowing she probably can't just slap her name on a newly launched restaurant without carving heavily into her personal savings with a slice of fatty tuna that just about melts in her mouth. Splendid.]

We do have the aquabus... a fishroll aquabus carousel would be thematic...what a shame. [Ahem. The flight of fancy nearly carried her off. She sets the little dish aside.] Do you travel often, given you enjoy transportation?

[He grins a little. To him, it still sounds like Furina is in work and performance mode, which means she must have fallen straight into old habits. And yet that doesn't seem to be an issue, at least not on the surface, so he assumes it's something to be happy about.

They'll take their seat at the counter, right in front of the sushi belt.]

Still thinking about how to dazzle an audience, aren't you? [He watches a dish drift lazily by. Aaaa how to pick!!!] I don't travel in the way that you think; it was limited to the Continent.

[There aren't many other options...]

Less to do with overseas travel to foreign lands, or even trains winding through long, peaceful vistas. Think long, hard days of walking, fighting, then resting your weary bones at a campfire.

Hmph, you've got it all wrong. It's not my responsibility anymore, but I just thought the people on Fontaine might like something like this.

[She can't help but have grand ideas that impassion her...that's truly something that's etched into her spirit by now.

Unfortunately, the funds are not, so her flights of fancy are frequently left to float in the clouds unrealized. His story seems much more down-to-earth, and she focuses on it instead of all that boring jurisdictional stuff.
]

Hence the "expedition" rather than something more twee, I suppose. I've an acquaintance whose journey has been similarly unending, but even they take their detours. In that case, an easy mode of transportation must seem like a luxury.

Forgive me, then, Mademoiselle. But you can't deny that it's hard to untrain the mind to think a certain way after so long!

[Even Verso, who tires of painting, views much in regard to color, composition, and with a keen eye for detail. Some things are simply too embedded in one's identity to erase clean, nor would one wish to. He understands.]

But yes, it is. There's no easy mode of transportation when the land's been shattered. [Okay, here comes a few slices of an eel sushi roll... He decides to snag a plate, because why not be adventurous?] But in the end, we had Esquie, so land, sea, or air was not an issue.

[does not explain what an esquie is]

No, I can't deny that. These things do ingrain themselves in you, until sometimes they can't be unraveled back to the thread where they started. [Furina's expression grows a little waner, her eyes catching a few of the dishes passing by and focusing on the movement of the belt, ever revolving, the same things coming back around.

Sometimes, the actor fades into the role.
]

It sounds like all of your exhaustive efforts paid off in the end if you were able to obtain something as groundbreaking as an Equie!

Er... What's an Esquie?

[That actually makes him laugh. He can only iagine how pleased Esquie would've been to hear someone call him ground-breaking.]

Esquie's not a what, but a who. He was one of my best friends back home — powerful, but kind. And big. We could all ride atop him as he ran, swam, or even flew across all manner of terrain.

I think you'd have liked him.
