Rom and Maya are taken to a monster truck rally. Sunday, sunday, sunday! Except it's not on Sunday. It's one of these days. Somehow everyone will fit all these activities into a week. Somehow. Anyway, enjoy!

Highlights

There is popcorn and soda and candy and all sorts of treats.
The place is loud, so, uh, good luck?
But they can also just leave if it gets too rowdy.

[ ... not his favorite date venue so far! Even discounting the fact that the density of spirits here is a bit higher than average -- probably some gnarly history to the racetrack here -- the noise is a bit more than he's used to. Rom has to lean in towards Maya and raise his voice a bit to make himself heard over the distant roar of motors. ]

Quite the venue, isn't it?

Huh?? Was there a menu?

[ Oh, dear. They're already off to a roaring start. ]

Hm? Oh -- yes, they did give us one.

[ Digging through the pocket of his goth jacket to withdraw a crumpled paper menu of the nearby food stall. ]

Are you hungry?

I'm always hungry.

[ Solemnly. ]

Only a little hungry, hm? [ Yeah they're still struggling with the noise. Though at least it's not a completely miss. ] Well -- no point in letting a chance for a free meal go to waste. The staff said they'd cover our bill, so. How about we grab a small bite?

[ Said as he gently nudges her shoulder towards the food stall. ]

Agreed!

[ She's just going to hook arms with him. No gentle nudging required. She's hauling. ]

[ Wah ... Miss Maya, so forward ... 😳 Rom does end up giving a surprised blink when she hooks arms like that, but -- hm. It's fine, he guesses? Off they go! ]

Mostly just snacks, I see.

[ Mumbled to himself as he looks at the stall's menu. ]

Do you know what you'd like, Amano-san?

How do you feel about popcorn?

[ Honestly this is really mostly snacks, just like he said. Even though she didn't hear that part. ]

Popcorn sounds -- [ Pause and a slight squint as one of the monster trucks revs extremely loudly. ] -- sounds like a fine choice. How about the, ah ... nachos, as well?

[ He's not even that hungry. He just picked the most expensive thing they have to cost the production team a bit more and annoy them. ]

Nachos sounds great to me too! Okay! We can share both of those.

[ Perfect date food!! ]

Perfect. That too, then, please.

[ He has to lean past Maya when he places the order, speaking loudly to be heard over the din. And as he waits for the staff member to toss together the food, he leans in real close to Maya to, once again, make himself heard: ]

Shall we find a better vantage point now? Or maybe find someplace quieter.

Quieter--!! Sounds good!!

[ She also apparently doesn't mind proximity, but she does point up and out. ]

I thought I saw a grassy knoll not too far from here!

Wonderful!

[ Yeah he definitely perked up a little bit at the agreement that they head somewhere quiet. Enough that, once he's handed the popcorn over to her and also grabbed his own order of nachos, he holds his arm out so she can hook his arm again if she wants??? ]

Please lead the way, then.

[ Hooking her arm around his, because yes! Fun!!

Off they go!! And sure enough, there's that grass knoll they mentioned and-- ]

Oh, it's so much easier to hear now!!

It certainly is, isn't it.

[ He's trying to be subtle about it, but that big dumb top hat he's always wearing makes it kind of obvious that he's shaking his head to clear his thoughts as they make they away from the noise. ]

I can't say I've ever been anywhere like this before ... I suppose it's a novel experience.

Are you more of a "quiet nature spot" kind of guy, or more like an "urban stroll" kind of guy?
