i think first impression wise, shoko just seemed like a really cool, laid back lady to yingying... in the game, her attention was most easily drawn to those she felt she could (affectionately) bully and torment, and shoko seemed extra resistant to her charms re:not getting flustered. like, she plays along, but she doesn't get shy and moe, you know... that doesn't mean yingying wasn't interested in her, but it does mean she knew her USUAL TACTICS weren't going to work as well
in her canon, yingying has a tendency to to (lovingly) put overworked people to sleep and let them sleep in, even if it means they'll be late to work, miss important calls, or whatever else. she doesn't do this to be mischievous, but because she is always commenting on people having a lack of rest! it's a service she seems genuinely happy to provide, and tbh the house was full of people that she deemed in need of such help, shoko being one of them
this is when wondershoy really began to Cook... i think initially she was just trying to give shoko a nice rest without much more intent or thought behind it, unknowing that she had such a level of grief that might have been encountered in her sweet dream. i think yingying completely empathizes with shoko's feelings of like, "damn the last time i saw my friends they were turbo fucked up and disgusting"; when the star fell in her hometown, people transformed into monsters, burned alive, got crushed, etc... everyone she loved died really traumatically so when shoko said that the dream had helped her see them in a way she couldn't say goodbye to them in... that made yingying feel like shoko would understand her obsession with keeping the fete alive, why she's spent so long preserving it with her illusory powers. she doesn't want to remember the people she loved so much in pain like that, much like how shoko just wanted to remember the peaceful days of happiness before the jjk world REALLY went to shit
that's what made it fun to flirt with her from then on! because it felt like something deeper was there, like shoko might be able to understand a lot of the hardship she's gone through wrt loss and grief and wanting to hold tight to fond memories. yy is totally not the type to be like WELL I SUFFERED MORE THAN YOU!!!!!!!, she's much more the type to see shoko's adjacent suffering and be like i feel seen... i want to comfort her the way i want to be comforted.... etc... she wanted to show her a good time. i think midpoint through the game, shoko had really such a calming effect on yy — she has such a stable, calm presence that really made the two of them feel like partners or equals in a sense
then outback steakhouse........ perhaps shoko doesn't realize it, or maybe she did, knowing how significant the rituals of her hometown were to yy, but offering her her wish is among the most precious and sacred things she could have done. there were other contestants that had also offered yy their wish of course, but everytime it happened yy was unbelievably touched. her life has been centered on hearing and blessing the wishes of others, she knows that people use a wish they have for the sake of someone else all the time — her mothers and family wished for her happiness and health pretty much every year. but that is one of the most sincere forms of love to yy, making a wish for someone. it was at this moment she knew shoko was like, a companion for life you know... not just a friend she was really getting along with and would definitely keep up with. her offering her that seriously is something she won't ever forget or take for granted
I THINK... after that, her opinion of shoko remained pretty much in the same place — very positive and affectionate. yy can be a little needy and enjoys being doted on, it makes her happy that shoko plays along with her and in turn allows yy to dote on her a little bit, like when she let her feed shoko chips... like they just have such a comfortable and fond relationship
i think towards endgame and postgame, yy definitely plans to keep in close touch... it warms her heart that shoko is attentive to her condition and wants to help her, even if she doesn't seem all too worried about her condition herself. yy has a bad habit of sort of brushing off people's efforts to help her condition?! i can see this perhaps causing a little bit of friction perhaps.... it's not cause she doesn't care but more that she doesn't like to see people pushing themselves too far for her.... sniffle
ALL IN ALL.... shoko her sweetiepie... she cares her so much and considers her one of the people she got closest to in the competition for sure 😔
