I see. Well, I don't know what I can offer in that regard other than an ear, but sometimes simply "being there" is enough, isn't it?

Before you confess all there is to your situation, do you have a hobby outside of dressing others well?

[ Sometimes it was, yeah.

The question out of the blue makes Serpilia snort out a small laugh as she makes herself comfortable where she's sitting, leaning back and not too worried if the fish bite or not. ]

Has that become my thing here? You dress a few people up cute like one time...

[ Three technically, but it really had started as a Thing with Furina before it ended up spreading. Maybe that was Serpilia's fault. She had wanted to leave just one little mark on Furina and Ringo's relationship at the end there, to insert herself in there in a way that wasn't too obtrusive one more time. ]

I'm not even sure I would call that my hobby at all. I'm more of a tech girl than anything, kind of like Poppy. Only I make the hardware from scratch, and more like to go poking around other people's work on the more digital front.

You do exceedingly well at it, so perhaps it's worth looking into.

[ And... techy stuff... which Odile feels she will never grasp. Her expression pinched slightly, hum thoughtful. ]

And I... see. My world hasn't so many advances in that way -- even a "camera" is new concept, for the most part, as is electricity in general. If that gives you an idea of how "behind" we are.

We do have clocks and the like, anything to do with kinetic energy we are proficient, but that is beyond my personal knowledge and into a companion's of mine. It has been an immense and intense learning experience by being here.

[ Her shoulders shake in a quieter laughter at the idea. It's not a career she could really see herself going into, but still the compliment is appreciated.

As for the rest of it, Serpilia actually drops her fishing rod, letting it lie on the floor of the... dock? boat? whatever it is they're sitting on right now. ]

Hold up. You've only just learned what a camera is? And electricity?

[ She looks baffled by this realization. This must be what it's like for other people to learn that someone with wings and a halo is normal and mundane other places. ]

Correct. I find electricity to be fascinating and worthwhile for its many conveniences, but I have had my fill of cameras for a lifetime.

[ ... As amusing as Serpilia's reaction is, it does make her feel the slightest bit of defense for her world... No, they don't have such many splendored things, but-- ]

As for that other question, Serpilia frowns. ]

Not really. I mean you could make the argument that some Arts have a little influence over the speed of things, I guess, but no one's really been able to control it.

[ Arts.... this is about to be so funny. ]

It isn't encouraged, and could be outright forbidden at this point due to the amount of energy it costs, but Time Craft is such that one can enact their will on exactly what you assume and twist it to their own means. There was one such case where a man stilled an entire country, for example.

[ Speed buffs are... different! Siffrin can also use those. ]

[ Serpilia has entirely forgotten her fishing rod at this point, but it's fine, the fish aren't even biting. ]

Yeah, kind of horrifying too though. What happened to the people of that country?

[ The fish are Not biting, and after a moment Odile sets hers down carefully. In one of those holder things. ]

They froze, too. Sometimes without warning... and others, knowing their end. It spanned a few years time -- shortly after I had arrived on the continent, actually, which made travel more harrowing than it needed to be. But I am happy to say that the Craft was dispelled and the world ran anew.

[ So don't worry! It was only horrifying for like, two to three or maybe four years, ]
