week three | mingle

No outright changes this week either. Week three rolls around, braced for impact as ever. The estate is still intact, the contestants are still motivated, things are looking good.

Well, aside from the fact you all had a blackout this weekend. That wasn't so good.

Either way, when Monday rolls around, Wei Wuxian seems to be in a cheery mood as he greets everyone Monday morning.

"Everyone, come here, come here. I have an announcement!"

Better go see what that's about, huh?

[ Okay good because he doesn't need applause right now. ]

I see ... it certainly sounds like a good number of us believe in your pairing with Amano-san. Though I suppose if you'd like to -- [ take a gamble, he almost says, before realizing that might touch upon Aventurine's bias ] -- try something different, this wouldn't be a bad opportunity for it. As we've guaranteed another failsafe for the week, you don't necessarily need to stick to what feels like the safer option.

[ Wao, why does everyone think he likes to gamble... ]

Like last week, a blackout would tell us more than a few lights would. I suppose it depends on how confident the others are feeling about their choices.

Certainly, the temptation to aim for another blackout is there. A full slate of negatives could be more helpful to us than a handful of half-answers we can't be sure of.

[ But! ] But we do only have one more week ahead of us after that. One round each with the Truth Booth and the ceremony. I don't think too many people will be raring to take huge risks.

And one person taking risks while the others play it safe will be detrimental overall. It's almost a good, old-fashioned prisoner's dilemma.

[ He's making it sound way more cutthroat than it is...just let him have this. ]

I suppose there's also the chance that aiming for a blackout might end in failure if we chance upon an unexpected pairing, with no way of confirming which dark horse ended up netting us a light. What a nightmare that would be!

[ Laughs, like it's genuinely funny. ]

[ It is funny, though! At least, Aventurine is laughing right along with him. Buncha freaks. ]

We'd certainly have our hands full sorting through that one! I'll just have to behave myself this time and place a safe bet.
