perfectmatch | week one

The characters will arrive one by one, in whatever vehicle suits them the best to the front of estate. It's a beautiful estate filled with plants and trees and little ponds and all kinds of little hideaways. But it all cumulates at the main house, where they will be dropped off and greeted by a familiar face who stands outside the house and welcomes them in. They will be able to bring one suitcase with items and clothes as well as their pet(s?).

The main thing to notice when you step into the house though is that cameras are everywhere. Despite the many little hideaways of this house, there's no privacy whatsoever. Oh well!

When everyone is gathered together, the host from earlier will greet everyone with a merry:

"Welcome, my affection seeking friends! This is where you'll be staying the next few weeks. Find a place to settle in and get to know each other! I'll be around, in case you need anything."

He genuinely seems to mean it, at least?! But that seems to be it, he'll slip away in the meantime and leave you all to it.

A few things to note, of course:

There is only one "bedroom" which is a large room, with a closet full of futons to roll out and use in said room. Sleepover time!

There is an extra, extra, extra, extra large futon for Messmer.

In one of the rooms of the estate, there is a lovely piano ready for use. Feel free to ask for more instruments, if you'd like.

The kitchen is filled with food of all kinds and modern appliances so folks can cook whatever they'd like! There is also a bar in the kitchen, stocked with alcohol.

In the living room, there is a screen showing everyone's profiles. It is touch screen, so feel free to swipe through!

There is, of course, a banner in the living room reading 有緣千里來相會 (which, for the keen-eyed, translates to "Fate brings together those that are a thousand miles apart"). This was definitely written by the host.

There is a welcome cake.

[ The cake is pretty, Odile can give them that, but-- ]

No thank you. I'm not particular fond of sweets, so it would be a waste of a slice. You do seem to be a lady it suits, however.

[ Fancy. ]

You, too? I really can't wrap my mind around it. [she asks rather cryptically, without exactly explaining herself. In a way, it's kind of like just dealing with Shoko again. They have the same kind of attitude - and not just toward the cake. Perhaps they'll get along.

But then, since they're so similar, the same problem is also shared.] What'll you be having then? It's unfathomable to not have anything for a toast.

Hmm. You do have a good point there, Furina. I am lacking something to toast with.

[ How troubling. Lol. ]

Would a glass of water do?

Oh! You know who I am. So you must have reviewed the whole cast's profiles by now.

[That's the only reason that anyone here would have reason to know her, which is an extremely freeing revelation.

At the rather lackluster offer of a toast, Furina pauses and gives it some thought. Is Odile a water connoisseur like Neuvilette is? Perhaps she really likes the taste of it. In fairness, there are few things better when a singer is taking care of her vocal cords.]

Well, if that's what you really want, then I certainly couldn't refuse your wishes.

[ Memorized it, even. Don't worry. ]

It is simply the most available option. I don't tend to day drink.

[ So no wine...! Or soju. Or sake. Or anything of the sort. She'll fetch a glass of water then, raising it slightly to Furina. ]

To what are we toasting, if you don't mind my asking?

[She could bring up the coffee that others have already gone to the trouble of making, or that the perfect pot of tea could take only minutes to make, but Furina gets the feeling that Odile will hear no convincing argument regarding alternative drinks.

There's a very short pause in anticipation of her answer.]

To new adventures! And our future success, of course.

[ The spirit of a toast does not wait for tea to be made, and she is not a coffee lady. So correct. ]

General, but well-meaning. A fine toast.

[ So she'll lift her glass to that, sipping a bit after. ]

While I am not a fan of sweets myself, several of my companions are. What would you say is your comfort confectionery?

I'll compose something more specific once I've had time to study the arrangement.

[Furina needs to do her research beyond reading what amounts to character blurbs at the start of a script. This is just the very first step in what will likely be a long production with many revisions.

She lifts her fork, the gesture cheery, big, and bold, though she refrains from touching the dastardly sugar to Odile's glass. It's a toast in motion alone.]

I'm acquainted with someone whose macarons surpass even mine, so when we meet, I always must try to get my hands on some... but for its versatility and potential, I'll always choose a slice of cake.

And not pie? You can do a lot with it, whether sweet or savory.

[ About to put Furina onto a different dessert. She is making a mental note about the macarons. ]

Hmm... While that is compelling, I think cake still takes the cake. Takes itself, as it were. Unless you've started lumping unrelated things like cheesecake and tarts into pie.

[That'd just be besmirching cake's good name, and that kind of defamation...actually might be a minor misdemeanor, some places.

Furina pops the fork into her mouth and muses over this particular bite, waiting until her mouth is once again empty to add:]

But I'll grant you the savory argument. If we were talking about savory foods, you might have another point in your favor.
