week one | arrival

The characters will arrive one by one, in whatever vehicle suits them the best to the front of estate. It's a beautiful estate filled with plants and trees and little ponds and all kinds of little hideaways. But it all cumulates at the main house, where they will be dropped off and greeted by a familiar face who stands outside the house and welcomes them in. They will be able to bring one suitcase with items and clothes as well as their pet(s?).

The main thing to notice when you step into the house though is that cameras are everywhere. Despite the many little hideaways of this house, there's no privacy whatsoever. Oh well!

When everyone is gathered together, the host from earlier will greet everyone with a merry:

"Welcome, my affection seeking friends! This is where you'll be staying the next few weeks. Find a place to settle in and get to know each other! I'll be around, in case you need anything."

He genuinely seems to mean it, at least?! But that seems to be it, he'll slip away in the meantime and leave you all to it.

A few things to note, of course:

• There is only one "bedroom" which is a large room, with a closet full of futons to roll out and use in said room. Sleepover time!


• There is an extra, extra, extra, extra large futon for Messmer.


• In one of the rooms of the estate, there is a lovely piano ready for use. Feel free to ask for more instruments, if you'd like.


• The kitchen is filled with food of all kinds and modern appliances so folks can cook whatever they'd like! There is also a bar in the kitchen, stocked with alcohol.


• In the living room, there is a screen showing everyone's profiles. It is touch screen, so feel free to swipe through!


• There is, of course, a banner in the living room reading 有緣千里來相會 (which, for the keen-eyed, translates to "Fate brings together those that are a thousand miles apart"). This was definitely written by the host.


• There is a welcome cake.

She grins at him, nodding.]

Great then! Hold still a minute.

[And if he does so, she will gladly lean in to press their lips together. This is a relatively inexperienced kiss, but she can't be faulted for enthusiasm and lack of hesitation.]

OKAY well good thing he goes with the flow, and this really seems superfluous at best, so he doesn't have to think too much on it.

He returns the kiss — his is less inexperienced, at least in its confidence, but it doesn't linger. He's just following her lead, and I hope she enjoy the scratchiness of his facial hair in the interim.]

[It is an interesting and unique sensation, and one she's never had before! Which makes it a win, of course.

She pulls back after a moment, expression thoughtful.]

Huh! I see, yeah, that was pretty nice. Thanks!

["Pretty nice." Help. He'll take the win, he supposes.

Verso straightens when the kiss is over, giving her a once-over yet again, and crooking a smile.]

You're very welcome. Quite bold, aren't you?

[She just grins at him.]

You think so? We've got a game to play and only so much time to gather data to figure it all out. What if I'm just the sort to be focused on the mission?

[No, he's right, she's very bold as well.]

[Yeah, no, she's bold.]

We have four weeks. It's day one. You're going to fluster some of these people, asking for kisses so suddenly.

Is that a bad thing?

[She just sounds a little amused at that, arms crossing.]

At least we'll still know more than we did before about those people.

[Hitches a hand on his hip.]

So, what’s your consensus about me? All that data you’ve gleaned from a kiss, what’s it tell you…?

Not an extrovert, but you're not a shrinking violet either.

Aaalso, you're super scruffy! Is that an aesthetic choice?

[That first part is pretty accurate, actually. But he doesn’t confirm or deny it.

Instead, he reaches up to briefly scrub at said scruff.]

Kinda brings to mind camping out in the wilderness, though.

Usually by necessity. There wasn't much in the way of cities and villages after the Fracture.

[Or even before then.]

I'd stay in the Gestral Village sometimes, but that wasn't always the most relaxing.

What's the "Fracture"?

Exactly as it sounds. When the world itself fractured. The large part of the main city, Lumière, was sent careening across the sea.

... Yikes. Sounds kind of similar to what Aion predicted back home.

[The Fracture... damn.]

How's humanity?

[A small pause, a strain at the corner of his smile.]

Not much left, sorry to say. [Moving on…] Hoping that your situation with this Aion’s prediction fares a little better than what mine was.

Yeah. Aion predicted something kind of similar for my world. The end of the world, the end of humanity... that sort of thing.

That's why I was made. To prevent it from happening.

... Sorry I couldn't do the same for your world, too.

[reverso]

[Aha… this conversation is like a heated knife twisting in his chest, and he has no right to feel that way. But Verso simply smiles through it, even though he takes on a wan shadow to every feature on his face.]

The power of a wish can change things, right? Maybe I’ll figure something out.

True! Even the smallest of changes can rewrite something like that, so a whole wish surely can seal the deal.

[She blinks as he backtracks, and tilts her head.]

Yep, that's what I said. This body's synthetic. I'm not human.

[Sorry for the subject change. He's not sure he wants to linger on the subject of his wish overlong, anyway.]

A body you've had only for months... [He murmurs it, as if finally putting two and two together re: her profiles.] You seem exactly like a human, though. I'd not been able to tell, otherwise.

[She grins at him, hands on her hips.]

I'm absolutely gonna take that as a compliment, since humans are pretty great. I was modeled to be as human as possible, but it did take some time to kind of... pick up on it. You know?

I meant it fully as a compliment.

[Her creator must be proud. It is no small effort to create a person who can exude an actual sense of humanity, learned or otherwise.]

For just a few months, you've already picked up on a lot. If you don't mind me saying so.

It's been a whirlwind of things, but mostly in a good way! And now I'm here to pick up on even more things I didn't get the chance to experience before.
