perfectmatch | week one

The characters will arrive one by one, in whatever vehicle suits them the best to the front of estate. It's a beautiful estate filled with plants and trees and little ponds and all kinds of little hideaways. But it all cumulates at the main house, where they will be dropped off and greeted by a familiar face who stands outside the house and welcomes them in. They will be able to bring one suitcase with items and clothes as well as their pet(s?).

The main thing to notice when you step into the house though is that cameras are everywhere. Despite the many little hideaways of this house, there's no privacy whatsoever. Oh well!

When everyone is gathered together, the host from earlier will greet everyone with a merry:

"Welcome, my affection seeking friends! This is where you'll be staying the next few weeks. Find a place to settle in and get to know each other! I'll be around, in case you need anything."

He genuinely seems to mean it, at least?! But that seems to be it, he'll slip away in the meantime and leave you all to it.

A few things to note, of course:

There is only one "bedroom" which is a large room, with a closet full of futons to roll out and use in said room. Sleepover time!

There is an extra, extra, extra, extra large futon for Messmer.

In one of the rooms of the estate, there is a lovely piano ready for use. Feel free to ask for more instruments, if you'd like.

The kitchen is filled with food of all kinds and modern appliances so folks can cook whatever they'd like! There is also a bar in the kitchen, stocked with alcohol.

In the living room, there is a screen showing everyone's profiles. It is touch screen, so feel free to swipe through!

There is, of course, a banner in the living room reading 有緣千里來相會 (which, for the keen-eyed, translates to "Fate brings together those that are a thousand miles apart"). This was definitely written by the host.

There is a welcome cake.

[ He's been doing a curious little loop of the room after putting his bag down, seemingly studying the corners up near the ceiling(????) and is conveniently nearby when poor Verso is attacked by the futon. ]

Oh dear.

[ Unhelpfully, he only makes a cursory effort at shoving a hand against the rolled-up futon so Verso's not being completely smothered. C'mon buddy, you can do it. ]

[Blessedly, with his help, Verso manages to catch his balance on the backfoot; this spares him from completely toppling over, but it just means that this giant-ass futon is leaning its full rolled-up weight against him.

Which, while not terrible, is still not an ideal first impression to make.]

[An apologetic smile to the other, and he shoulders the futon back into the closet with a grunt.]

Well. That seems unnecessarily large.

[he hasn't met the big snake man yet]

It was no trouble at all.

[ Once it looks like Verso has the situation under control, he withdraws his hand. Yes, he's just going to watch Verso wrestle with the futon now.

Good point about it being oversized though. ]

That's true ... [ He hasn't met the large snake man yet either. ] Reality shows often have competitions and prizes, don't they? Perhaps the large one is the reward for winning some challenge.

[The futon stays in place, though it tilts forward as though to threaten to fall again. Verso elbows it idly, keeping it there, leaning. They should... probably close the closet door. (He's forgotten all about fetching his own futon out.)]

Or maybe it's part of a challenge. Something to play up the tension between everyone sleeping so close together.

[ ... ]

But I don't know how any of this works, if I'm to be honest with you.

[ Still just watching this futon struggle unhelpfully. Sorry Verso!

Blandly: ] Given the nature of the game, it may be something else they're aiming for. Putting us all in the same room. [ Pause. ] Aah, though I wouldn't claim to be experienced in this arena, either. Operating as a solo streamer is a far cry from participating in such a large collaboration as it turns out.

[ He's also not gonna explain any of that before moving on. ]

[Have you hit your helpfulness quota, sir? Verso will just continue to lean against this oversized futon, as though he purposefully means to do it while he speaks.

That's a futon. It's meant to go on the floor, sooner or later. Is there a reason you're striving so hard to hold it up?

[ A pause before he claps. ]

What marvelous strength! What person wouldn't be impressed? It puts me at ease to know I'm in the company of such a strong and capable man!

[ Is he being sarcastic or not? It is a mystery. ]

[Straightening and stepping to the side, the futon fwomps down on the floor beside him.]

True. No point in hiding one's good points when in pursuit of true love. Best to show off your charms.

[ The futon thumps down onto the floor, and Rom crouches down to take a closer look at it. ... it really is quite huge. ]

[He gets it.

Haha. Quite a hasty pair that would be, choosing their mate before even the first night! Don't tell me you're expecting things to move so quickly, Mr. Verso?

Also, while he doesn't think Verso's beholden to shoving this XL futon back in the closet, it also doesn't feel right to leave it sprawled out so early ... he will fold it a little and tug it aside. ]

[How helpful! He'll aid him if he needs it; if not, he will watch diligently.]

... I've been taught to do my research and prepare well before jumping into any new venture. Though maybe that's just because of my line of work.
