[ The only Disney thing he learned about is Finding Nemo, who sadly doesn't seem to be appearing in this drag show. That doesn't stop him from looking around starry-eyed, though, rapt at attention as Yingying explains. ]
Is that so? This Disneyland of yours...are all these Queens royalty there?
[ What a magical place! Queen Elsa is throwing glitter-bomb snowflakes out into the crowd now, which is met with enthusiastic cheering. ]
Yes, and there's more. She has a sister, Anna... and then there's Belle, Cinderella, Tiana, and Rapunzel, too.
[ Somebody here soaked in as much information as she could during her Disneyland date... Yingying can be curious and inquisitive about the world around her — perhaps doubly so now that she's gotten used to the estate, as she has the bandwidth to focus on being mesmerized by things outside of it. She blows out a puff of air to keep some glitter from falling directly on her face, raising a hand slightly to shield her eyes. ]
[ That's so much royalty for one land. Their political structure must be fascinating... ]
They don't suit me much these days. [ says man who fell in love with a vampire ] When I was a child, however, I ask my sister to tell them to me all the time. They made the world seem so much bigger than it was...
[ And truthfully, some of those stories probably were just actual events from other corners of the universe. Back then, it seemed all so fantastical. ]3
What about you? I could see you as quite the storyteller.
Heh. Well, reciting poetry was a part of being a courtesan. Not just anyone got to hear me do it, either...~
[ Delivering lines with drama and intrigue, keeping a customer interested and enthralled... that's just part of the job. She has to be good enough to be worth the pretty penny people would pay to hear it and spend an evening with her, so yes, she considers herself good to a degree. ]
Though I'm hardly a real tale-teller. I only like happy endings. I'd change up a story to make sure it had one, if I had to.
[ Only happy endings, hm? Curious...although perhaps not surprising. Yingying was reluctant to give herself one by way of a wish, so maybe she just believes such endings are better suited for stories.
...Or maybe that's his own bias coloring his opinion. ]
You don't think there's something a little beautiful in the occasional tragedy? Or those tall tales meant to scare children away from the dark and dangerous?
Aren't there enough sad endings in the real world...
[ ...Too many to count, really. She really doesn't have the taste for tragedies or sorrowful tales — not even in fiction. Though, her opinion's been swayed a lot over the last few years, having spent a lot of time with someone who only likes sad endings. ]
Some sad tales can be so cliché, too. Forbidden love and eternal curses... where's the fun in that?
[ ...Well. He can't argue with that. Reality is rarely as kind as stories are, though he wonders which is better in the long run; the honesty of a tragic tale, or the hope of a happy one? ]
Oh, come now, you don't find something even a little bit romantic about forbidden lovers? Even curses have their place, so long as they can be lifted.
[ maybe if he finds a nice prince to kiss his luck curse away — hol up ]
[ Maybe she's just seen and heard too many tales... ]
So long as there's a happy end, maybe... if I imagine myself in a tale like that, even if it were forbidden, it wouldn't stop me from getting my arms around the person I love.
[ She'd rewrite their story, keep pushing against the forces that kept them apart, until they were at last together. That's just her philosophy, unwilling to be tugged around by the whims of fate and destiny. It's more romantic to break out of the confines of tradition, even when that tradition is the common beats of star-crossed lovers' tales. ]
I guess I just don't understand the anguish in those tales...~
[ A light hum, as Ariel enters the stage, now blowing bubbles with a bubble gun out into the crowd. One lands right on the crown of Yingying's head. ]
You're the type to go right for what you want, huh? [ Well. That tracks with her pursuit of Yi Sang. Hopefully they're a little closer to figuring that out, even if the conversation Aventurine had with him is a blur, now. ] I see the appeal of a little mutual pining, but in the end...I guess I would agree with you. No happy ending in a tale like that would just be a waste of time.
[ His answer to this might have been very different a few weeks ago, but he's...had a change of heart, to say the least. ]

Are you fond of fairy tales, Aventurine?
