I see ... did the 'rewriting reality' part fix that problem, then?

In a sense. It made it so that I was never killed and the world never ended as a result. It sort of created a separate reality, rather than rewriting it entirely.

But it also means the kids who made that choice... never met me. Or each other. They had to choose to give up their memories.

On an objective scale, I suppose it's a small price to pay to construct an entire new reality.
