[ Revenge for last week's ghost trick! Not that it actually bothered her much personally, but it's the principle of the matter.

For her part Edamura will have to stand there and listen to her order the jam filled pastry she just pointed to, and a sickeningly sweet looking caramel drink where she has the audacity to request extra sugar added to.

Edamura has probably stopped getting where she's coming from. ]

I get we've all been going pretty hard here, but I promise I don't need the caffeine boost that much.

It's not about the caffeine. It's about the flavor! I bet you can barely taste the beans from underneath all of that sugar.

[ She could not possibly look more dumbfounded than she does right now. ]

[ Buddy, she does not get it at all, but she'll reach over to pat him on the upper arm in a "cheer up, buckaroo" kind of way, before he starts to scurry off with his food. She'll take her order quickly and following him, so that he can witness her commit further crimes against him. ]

Soooo... I'm guessing you don't have much of a sweet tooth yourself then?

[just ignore him, he will get over it]

Not especially. I don't mind it on occasion-- [holds up his chocolate croissant, which he bought mostly because chocolate pairs well with coffee] -- but I wouldn't say I crave it. . .

I can't imagine it.

[ A pause. ]

Actually, I can, it's pretty normal for non-Sankta, but I just personally wouldn't want to live that way.

[ She'll take a sip of her overly sweetened coffee, and still glances at where the extra cups and stirrers are kept, debating if she wants to add more. A small bone is tossed out for her considered crimes though. ]

I'll take one sip of the coffee you make later just to "taste the beans", but you're drinking the rest of it on your own. I can't do that much bitter at once.

[he takes one last look at her overly sweetened drink. . . and just laughs, giving a small shake of his head. these coffee crimes may have hurt him, but at least she is self-assured-- as always-- about what she likes]

Deal. [lifting his own plain dark roast to her in a pseudo-cheer] If it's brewed correctly, it shouldn't be that bitter. I'll prove it to you.

[ Self-assured... Hmmm...

Well, on this particular issue she is confident and comfortable with her choices, and a sweet drink makes for a good drink. She's willing to try his bitter black coffee out.

... Maybe she can at least convince him to add a little cream. ]

I promise I won't even be that mean to you if I end up handing it right back to you after one sip.

[ Guess who had black coffee as their be-hated food item during week one? ]

[he says with a grin as he takes a sip of his coffee. dark roast. . . completely black. . . just how he likes it. . .]

. . . I suppose if I'm completely fair, coffee is a pretty acquired taste. I didn't like it until I was older.

[ A small frown at that comment. Kindness apparently doesn't last but so long. ]

If you start trying to talk like you're that much older than me, I'm going to kick you under the table.

[ There is no table cloth. Everyone would see her kicking him. She's fine with that. ]

Besides, I know plenty of little old ladies and little old men who love things on the sweeter side still.

. . . n-- no! That's not what I meant. You're right! A lot of people never warm up to black coffee in their lifetimes.

[placing his cup down and waving his hands. couldn't be him, but that's okay. coffee is not for everyone]

I was just talking about my own experiences. . . not suggesting that your tastes might change with more time.

[ Pacified for now. If she knew about people's take on the biblical angel thing, she really could have played up the idea of herself as an ancient and powerful being, and then really had something to say there.

Alas, as it is she was honest about her age as one of the younger people on the show.

Her feet stay firmly planted. No kicking happens as she takes another sip. His reward for walking that back is she won't hurt him further by getting the extra sugar she was contemplating. ]

If they do they do, but... I feel pretty confident that they won't that much.

[ Then again, she's tried some typically sweeter baked goods on the more savory side, and they haven't been so bad, so it's not like she eats nothing but sugar. ]

If one chance is all I have, then I don't plan on wasting it. Promise!

[easing back into another smile. he will make her the best cup of black coffee he can manage with a blend he is CONFIDENT will match her tastebuds]

She thinks she'll hate it, but it'll be an Experience, so that's kind of fun, right? She'll enjoy her very sugary coffee in the meantime while she can. ]

You know, I did briefly consider opening up a cafe of my own. ["briefly consider" sometimes he still thinks about it, even if he knows he never will] But it'd be way too much work.
