[ Oh shit. Did Yi Sang just fall over? Messmer vaguely reaches out to try and catch him before he hits the floor, but he's too disoriented to manage it, only swiping the air. At least he gets back up; this time, Messmer does land a hand on his shoulder, although it's unclear who it's supposed to be helping - Yi Sang or himself. ]
Poorly. Let us be rid of this place...
[ trying to nudge Yi Sang along while keeping his other hand attached to the railing. Surely, if they just keep following it along, they'll eventually pop out on the other side...? Originally, his grousing about the exhibit was just grumpiness, but now he really, truly doesn't understand why anyone would do this for fun. ]
[The hand is surprisingly grounding, though it shouldn't be when considering their environs. Yi Sang inches forward with the rail as his lifeline, and after what feels like an eternity, they manage to put the hellish tunnel behind them.
Outside, Yi Sang stands as still as a statue—albeit one with a blue face from the roiling nausea in his gut, which he promptly empties into the nearest disposal bin.]
But, nope, Poppy's definitely noticing him perk up a little. The influencer stuff feels kind of rehearsed in a way, this feels a little more natural? This is the moment where she's deciding she really, genuinely likes Rom as a person.
So she's picking up her own gun, turning it over in her hands before she looks up at him. Oh yeah, this'll do... ]
We can absolutely one-coin clear it. [ If Rom is an actual gamer, then there is no doubt in her mind.
Clicks her own gun, aiming it at the screen now, and in the most badass voice she can muster: ] Let's do this.
[ Here they go... She's being led by Luka, and, oh.
Wait.
He might actually be really good at this. She isn't tripping over her dress or anything, she's actually keeping up... And so she can take a second to look up at him in surprise. ]
[ This man is so precious. When he looks like that, Nico wants to kiss him breathless. The horses probably wouldn’t appreciate him lunging over, so he restrains himself. For now. ]
I can certainly try. [ AHEM. ] Oh no, monsieur Aventurine! I cannot be with you! I am too aloof and cool for that!
[Ah. Well... Here comes dipping his toes into the harder questions, eh?]
...Cursed. After my initial Expedition sailed from Lumière, I soon stumbled upon a rather dread revelation: I was immortal. So was the rest of my family.
... Some might consider that an upside in your line of unfortunate volunteer work.
[ And maybe it is, in some sense, but Odile's tone seems to imply strongly she thinks otherwise. Reason for that too, even if it isn't hers to speak on. ]
[No judgement. He wonders precisely if that notion will remain steadfast in all that he wants to say. Verso sets his jaw, steels himself, then speaks.]
I didn't wish to be confirmed with a match who didn't know the full scope of myself, with the expectation that we were "perfect" for each other. That there might lie a future with someone who doesn't even truly know the real me.
[This is less of a pressure point now that romance has bloomed between Nico and Aventurine, and that their match might be more of good friendship than romantic expectation, but even so.]
I'll start with the first thing that destroys prospects between me and anyone here.
[ ... ]
I'm not supposed to exist any longer. For all intents and purposes, once this game is over, I'm dead.
[And he was going to say that his might have changed its course in these four weeks, and his uncertainty regarding that, but he'd rather listen to what Furina has to say first. Any motes of comfort that he can unearth from them, selfishly, he's happy to reinforce his own thoughts with.
We do. I wouldn't call it complimentary but I would call it similar and kindred in some sort of sense.
[ if understanding requires familiarity, then yes they do match up in that way. ]
He's interested in you, but he probably doesn't see it himself yet. [ luka takes another sip, smaller this time, because whew, all this talking about someone who grates against him is making his head feel funny. it has to be that clearly and not the alcohol. ]
Those are the best kinds, aren't they? As ever, wishes don't just come true if you pray for them to. Putting your heart's desires in motion, holding on to that wish over time until you can see it come to fruition, those are much more powerful ways of "wish granting" than any fairy could have. Her brow furrows, conflicted, but still managing to smile through it all. ]
I see what you mean. It's a wish you need to see come true on your own.
[ There were lots of people like that who came to her dais, asking merely that she watch over them while they pursued their dreams. So, she does understand.
It still... doesn't feel quite right, being on the receiving end of all this generosity. For not only Edamura and Aventurine, but also Shoko to offer her their wishes? They've only known each other a few short weeks. When she was a baby and was taken in by what would become her family, she never knew anything different but the selfless, all-encompassing love given to her, a poor weak thing found at the base of a tree. But now she's grown up, and she can recognize, beat for beat, the actual weight of such acts. ]
Still... think about it, okay? People are always wishing for things for the people around them — be that fortune, health, or happiness. That's the beautiful thing about wishes. [ Loving or caring about someone so much that you would forego your own solitary desires is, in her mind, the miracle of living. ] I'm honored you would think to use your wish for my health. But if there's someone you really love that could also use your kindness, don't feel obligated to me.
[ She's sure Shoko has other loved ones, even though she's lost a lot... she even has Poppy here, and other contestants, too. After saying that though, she reaches across the table to take her hand and squeeze it gently, trying to communicate her earnest wish for Shoko. ]
