Odile and Shoko are taken to a local private garden. In the evening! It's just a place to stroll and chat and take in the surrounding flowers. It's very quaint.
Highlights
If they so desire it, the staff will procure tea.
Because they're alone, the camera crew is especially intense.
[it isn't as if Edamura knows any better, so he accepts that assertion with ease. the way he hovers from machine to machine is a bit hesitant, like he isn't sure which game to pick first]
I guess a challenge is more exciting for your viewers?
[it doesn't take him long to spot a safe haven amidst the sea of people: a hobby shop that is only boasting of one or two patrons, with plenty of space to spare! Edamura's grip on Odile's sleeve tightens as he glances behind them at their poor cameramen. . . who are struggling to keep up with them against the current, mind you]
[. . . good]
And I really doubt you want me shouting your personal business at the top of my lungs.
[ The fairs she's gotten to go on dates were similar to this, lit up at night and with tons of stalls selling food, but there were enough foreign elements that they didn't quite evoke the image of home. This, though? The lanterns lit up, the familiar smells of skewered meat and fire crackers, the sounds of kids laughing and music beating through their chests...
It feels like coming home. Since a hundred years ago, she's only had the imitation of the fete that she could conjure — she hasn't been to a real thing since the star fell. As can be expected, her eyes are bright and full of wonder and excitement as they start getting lost in the crowd, keeping her arm secure around Yi Sang's while they navigate through the throng. Leaning in close to his ear so that he'll be able to hear her over the bustle of the market: ]
Shall we try to find a stall selling chicken?
[ Maybe they have something similar to his homeland, too...? It wouldn't do if she made this excursion all about her. ]
[ Yingying has in fact never had cotton candy... until now. It's one of those big, fluffy ones that gets shaped like a flower by the stand attendant, and it's that perfect, sugary looking pink. It's for both of them to share!! ]
It's like a cloud... [ She almost doesn't want to tug any pieces off of it, so as to protect the integrity of the treat. But she offers it to Nico nonetheless, holding it between them carefully. ] You can eat some of this, right?
Odile and Verso are taken to a bar. It's just a chill, laid back place, with comfortable couches and chairs and interesting drinks. A good place for a nice talk.
Highlights
It's a little small though so the camera crew kick out a few people first.
Odile does not trust particularly easily. Edamura has garnered it well the past two weeks, and though she sets a keen, curious gaze on him for a beat, she sighs. ]
[ What's better than this, going to a butterfly garden with someone that seems to emanate the very essence of flowers????
Whether they like it or not, the butterflies gently flitting about the garden do seem to take an obvious interest in them as they stroll about, several landing in Yingying's hair and shoulders, but on Edamura, too, as the scent of wisteria surrounds him, also. Maybe one even lands on his nose, or something like that. ]
Odile and Poppy are taken to a fighting game tournament. This is definitely not for Smash Bros. Definitely something else. You think we have the licensing money for Smash Bros? As if!
[ Thankfully, this is not her first chain restaurant date rodeo, so now she knows the general beats of ordering at a place like this. Drinks, then appetizers, then entree. It's just, wow, this menu is so much different than I-HOP!!! There's so much more.... meat. ]
Shall I trust your intuition about the drinks, Shoko? [ what the hell is a pina koala ] You seem so learned in this sort of thing, after all... ~
[ Flutters her eyelashes at her all demurely for effect!! ]
[all Odile will see as she studies him is a confident, surprisingly unreadable smile, one that only widens once she agrees]
Great.
[this is easy. this is child's play. he hasn't had to shake a tail in quite a while, but the crowded mall hallways will just make it even simpler]
One, two, three—
[and on three. . . he yanks on his companion's sleeve and ducks left, as if diving underneath the surface of the crowds around them. banking left is only part of the plan, though; he also changes directions, walking against the flow of people as their cameramen continue forward, head bowed low]
[the poor crew members make a few surprised noises, audible above the murmur of people. hey, did we lose them? hurry and catch up!! they're not docking my pay for this!!]
[wah. . . everything is so quiet and pretty and idyllic. . . he can't help but think this is the exact place he would want to visit with Yingying. even if he starts a bit awkwardly as few brightly colored butterflies flutter in front of his nose]
Peh— [a shape exhale of breath, and the poor creature is blown away, albeit gently so. it drifts away, vanishing back into the greenery surrounding them]
— I don't mind them getting up close and personal, but I still need to see.
Aventurine and Edamura are taken to a high stakes poker room. It's exclusive beyond exclusive and the buy in is a whopping ten grand a pop. But this is the show's money, so! Live your best life!
Highlights
They'll be playing against some heavyweight professional poker players.
[ Well. They came back presentable, which is high marks where Yi Sang is concerned, so good reviews. Every place here is lush and it is never Odile's style, but-- ]
I suppose when one has the chance to spoil themselves, it would be terrible to turn it down.
[ Don't mind if she helps herself to a tea sandy... It's gonna be rough going back to her world. ]
While I can't say I've ever enjoyed a "manicure" before, I'm certain a young woman like you has. Somehow. Am I wrong?
Aventurine and Luka are going on a scavenger hunt. The location? All their previous dates! They must find something memorable from each one to win the prize.
[even Edamura's swimwear is ridiculously normal, lacking any senes of fashion whatsoever: a simple pair of blue swim trunks and a silly Hawaiian shirt, left open in the front. nevertheless! he looks pleased as he tugs their bottle of wine from the picnic basket]
Hey! Not bad, not bad. I'm more of a beer kind of guy, but I won't say no to a good vintage.
[ "Only speaks French" mon dieu, she's going to pretend she doesn't speak it. The bartender can be happy they kicked some people out or not, but Odile merely gives them a pitying look before gesturing to Verso. ]
If you would, Verso, order for us both? It seems you and the bartender speak the same language.
[ Which she technically also knows, given Vaugarde is fantastical French, but no one needs to know that. She's curious to see him speak it beyond pleasantries. ]
Aventurine and Ringo are going bungee-jumping. Again for Ringo. This is the same spot as last time. Does production really need to cut costs like that?
Highlights
The staff remember Ringo.
It's perfectly safe.
Make sure you don't eat anything heavy beforehand!
