[Yeah Ringo also just shifts enough to make sure there's space for Serpilia. It just comes kind of naturally. Also they're both shorties so Serpilia should just take advantage.]
I don't really see why a couple's massage can't be three people... does that mean they're gonna split us all up for the massage?
That sucks as a date if so!
[She wants to be in the same room as Serpilia and Furina so they can talk!]
[ nonstop calculations with this Rom fella, huh... ]
Wandering about in labyrinths is no hobby of mine, [ he answers dryly. ][ Thy guidance I will trust.
[ although his suggestion does give Messmer some pause. Is it cheating, or is it just being resourceful...? The defeated snake perks up a little bit again, now staring at Rom once again. Being around Messmer means you get stared at by pythons a lot. ]
I approached thee not as an enemy, and thou art from far beyond the Lands Between. My name and face, my serpent kin - they holdeth no meaning to thee.
[ there was the height difference, yes, and he still cuts an intimidating figure, but the real reasons people are scared of him are tied to his culture - and his role within it. ]
[It's fine; the Maya menacing in the background both helps sell it and provides a threatening(?) support to Furina's complete scolding of the camera crew for doing a complete disservice to the blood, sweat, tears, and art on display here.
It seems her impassioned speech doesn't fall on completely deaf ears; the crew yields a bit of space. At least their lights won't be shining in the eyes of attendees or causing the projection screen in horrible backlight.
Furina crosses her arms.]
Hmph, they could - should, really, but I'm feeling magnanimous - be fined for disrupting a public event.
[Oh bless his heart, he froze right up. She knows the anxiety of first-time stage fright when she sees it, Furina thinks. In contrast, she is extremely keyed in, a jubilant ball of energy that is nonetheless coming at this with professional vigor.
(Hopefully they all get matching t-shirts at the end of this.)]
Close, but it'll be a different word. Just keep going down the list and back to the start again. [No zapping a zap.]
Massively multiplayer online role-playing game. You hop on a server and you can play with thousands of people from around the world, all at the same time. They're awesome.
[ He'd started trotting ahead, grazing his right hand along the wall of corn stalks, to peer around the closest intersection, but Rom looks back and up when he hears that last part. ]
... certainly, if you'd be game for it! [ Haha. He definitely hadn't expected Messmer to abide by his prodding in any way. Though Rom feels the need to make a clarification as he yo-yo's a few steps back Messmer's way once more. ] Ah, just please -- don't throw me. I may be able to deal with ghosts, but I'm otherwise a normal person. My bones will shatter all the same if you just throw me over the closest wall.
[ He's kidding! He's kidding. He doesn't actually think Messmer will pick him up and chuck him .... right? Probably??? ]
[ Aaahhh .... there it is. Left without his usual option of immediately deflecting back, Rom is forced to just avert his gaze for a moment before responding as casually as he can. ]
... it's difficult, isn't it. Finding the answer in this game.
[ Oh well. It's not like he isn't used to people misreading his intentions. Moving on -- Rom pokes at his fancy little pâté thingy (?) with his fork as he gives a thoughtful hum. ]
It certainly feels like people are more willing to explore other options with this upcoming ceremony. Maybe we should be grateful the close shave has worked as a sort of wake-up call?
[aaaaaAAAAAAH WHY IS HE NERVOUS THIS IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS FRIGHTENING THAN BUNGEE JUMPING??]
I wouldn't mind if you diiiiiiiid--!
[the ride workers kind of. . . forcibly shove him into a nearby cart. but once there, he takes a few deep breaths, buckles himself in, and places his hands on the wheel]
[well then!1 maybe he'll come around to the idea, the more time they spend together, and the more she demonstrates her crafts. he is, after all, perfectly adaptable! even if he tends to dig his heels in at first]
[. . . and it means a little to him, that she would make an offer that she says she never makes lightly]
Oh-- right. And we can't forget the lost and found, either.
[a deep inhale, and Edamura pushes aside those conflicting feelings to respond to Verso's question instead. his response is quiet. wistful, but gneuine]
I do.
[and he had certainly meant it. his life prior to coming on the show had been exhausting, and a large part of him was ready to give it up. to truly settle down and live the rest of his life as an honest, average, ordinary citizen]
[. . .]
[he just knows. . . another large part of him wants so desperately to cling to the thrill of adventure. but. . . that's an inner conflict for another time, isn't it?]
[AND THEY CAN'T GET TO. . . Y'KNOW. . . while they're out enjoying an izakaya. either way, her words bring a small touch of pink to his cheeks, and he lowers his gaze, not even bothering to hide his smile. sweet, huh. . .]
[. . .]
[. . . he thinks he is anything but]
Say, Shoko--
[he looks up again, reaching his arm across the table to reach for some edamame--]
[his arm bumps into the half-full pitcher of beer they're sharing between themselves, knocking it clear off of the table and. . . right onto some of the camera equipment! the equipment sparks and smokes, with the cameramen letting out a few sharp and surprised curses as they move to unplug the electronics before a fire starts]
[Edamura looks HORRIFIED]
Guh-- I'm so sorry. . . ! D-do you need me to help pay for that when the show is over--?
[one of the crew members mumbles about how Edamura probably couldn't afford it, before telling his coworkers that they have extra camera stuff in the car outside. it'll only take ten minutes to set it up!]
[ For as puzzled as he is about Edamura's chosen path of action, at least Rom's as quick on the uptake as ever. As he slips around a row of machines to make his way to the little corner Edamura's tucked himself into, he unplugs his own mic as soon as he spots Edamura's with wires dangling free.
Sure, this works just as well. ]
Oh? I didn't take you to be the type to have such stage fright.
[ Said as he. Casually sidles his way riiiiight into the little hiding spot they're now sharing, a hand rising to touch against Edamura's shoulder as he shifts closer. ]
Now, if you'd please hold still for just a moment.
