[despite his career (. . . "career"), Edamura has actually never been to a class like this before. thank goodness the teacher is giving them a demonstration instead of just throwing them into the deep end]
. . . have you ever done something like this before, Furina?
[ah, yes. this spot passes his VERY RIGOROUS, VERY STRINGENT test. he inhales deeply the moment they step in, allowing the scent of ground beans to permeate his senses]
[this is not quite as frightening as bungee jumping, but he still looks a bit dubious as they wait in line, watching everyone bump chaotically around the course. a few people look like they might get thrown from their vehicles? hello???]
Aaaah. . . and here I was hoping we'd have another quiet place to talk.
[reaching back to take her sleeve in return, trying to maneuver her towards some pocket of solace. the food court is probably horrendous right now, but maybe a quiet shop that doesn't get many customers. . .?]
As did I. Your annoying questions don't land the same if you're yelling them.
[ With all her affection, surely. Odile feels a little more at ease being directed, so she doesn't seem to mind wherever Edamura seeks to take them. A quiet store... when there feels to be nothing but people streaming in and out of them. ]
[ HE DRESSED APPROPRIATELY OKAY!!! For as generally tactless and my-pace as he tends to be, Rom isn't completely blind to social convention, and there's not much he has to gain from standing out too much here, so. He will try to fit in. Yes, he's still in all-black, but at least it's proper nice clothes. Yes, he let the show's stylist slick his hair back. Yes, unfortunately, he is also wearing the eyepatch, but don't worry about it.
He'll even pull the chair out first for Serpilia as they approach their table, his voice kept a little low to fit the ambiance. ]
... by any chance, are you familiar with these sorts of places, Miss Serpilia?
[ LOOK ... look ... let it never be said that Rom is a bad undercover ghost rumor investigator ... he can fit in just fine when he puts his mind to it okay!!! Which is to say he isn't completely blended in, but he's at least relatively dressed down for the occasion. He even left the hat at the estate! Just his usual unruly fluffy hair for the night.
Still. He's looking around a little curiously as they enter. He does absently pull a chair out for Aventurine and indicates for him to sit, but as he pulls out his own seat, he gives a brief laugh. ]
I may need to follow your lead while we're here, Mr. Aventurine. This isn't really my kind of joint. [ Obviously. ]
[ ... this feels weirdly nostalgic, but like, in a neutral way, not necessarily a good way. Rom's demeanor is the same as ever, but he does seem to glance around a little more than usual as they enter. And as Odile begins to peruse the teas on offer, Rom leans in to ask, ]
I don't suppose you'd be able to recommend something for me? Something not too earthy or bitter.
[ Oh? He's never been in this sort of vibe before -- it's not bad. Sure, he stands out like a sore thumb, but even the waitstaff seem more amused than they do miffed. Rom smiles as he hands Ringo a menu across the table before flipping open his own. ]
I suppose we won't go hungry while discussing matters, at least.
[ You know what -- he's not even mad that it's his second time here. The location is fine, and already knowing where all the ghosties are hanging out makes this more relaxing than having to scope out a new date location. Rom's even relatively dressed down today -- no hat, no obnoxious longcoat flapping around -- and almost looks like a normal person as he looks to his companion for the night. ]
It's a nice change of pace, isn't it? The N64 at the estate was fine, but modern arcades have that special something you just can't get from retro games.
[ It is someplace Odile is clearly comfortable in too, and at Rom's request she hums softly. ]
... White-tip oolong may suit your tastes. It has a honeyed taste, so it's sweet without being overly so, and the fragrance it produces when stepping is enjoyable even by those who prefer their tea on the more bitter end.
[ Floral and nice. Very relaxing, the kind that would catch the curiosity of others that passed. ]
[ Rom's demeanor is largely the same as ever as he trails along a few steps behind Edamura, but there's like, 2% more light in his eyes than usual when he leans in to respond. He's clearly kind of pleased with the location for this date. ]
Certainly. It's much harder to get in any practice on arcade machines, after all, taking into account things like cost and when arcades actually open. But that makes for a fun challenge, doesn't it?
Nico and Maya are taken to a science museum. There is a section on dinosaurs, a section on airplanes, a section on space. There's even a planetarium! A 2-for-1 date!
Highlights
This will be at night, of course. It's just open very late.
Nico and Poppy are taken to a paint-your-own-pottery class. From clay dragons to regular ol' mugs, they'll have their pick of the litter when it comes to picking out things to paint!
Highlights
It's a chill vibe, though there's no alcohol allowed.
The teacher plays light pop music in the background.
[ There are... and Odile is certainly picking them out at her leisure. They have far too many coffee or nothing drinkers at the house and she is intending to change this.
Also picking some of the more expensive ones for herself. If it's on someone else's budget, she has no limits. ]
[ As Odile picks out her teas, Rom ambles away briefly to fetch a little basket; he's just gonna hold it in her field of vision and give it a little wiggle so he can carry her things for her. ]
In a way. There's a particular tea my Master favors for when you've been afflicted with a curse or ghostly influence. It works well, but it doesn't make for a pleasant drink, so I've never liked tea much since.
[ Pause, before he points to the most expensive little tin on the shelf before them. ]
