Week At A Glance
So how does a round of AYTO even work?
Never fear! I've got you covered. Here's a general outline of the rules of the show, and how they've been tweaked to make RP work.
AYTO, in a week:
- Monday: A CR Building log is posted. This is for shenanigans! Fights over who picked who as their perfect match! Strategizing! Smooching! This log lasts all week, and you are welcome to play around with it at will.
- Wednesday: An event will be posted. This will be a purely CR building event that the characters will have to go through together: think memory share things, or a scavenger hunt that requires them to tell multiple people something sad that happened in their past. Things that will force everyone to get to know each other better!
- Friday: Characters will have to decide on who they're voting in for the truth booth. OOCly, you have all week to submit that choice here, but ICly, it happens on Friday. Characters will enter a room privately, and enter in their choice for who they think a perfect match is. On Friday, the Truth Booth log will be posted, and everyone can react/rubberneck as they watch the characters that were chosen by majority vote make their way to the booth and wait to see what the outcome is.
- Saturday: The Match-up ceremony will be held, and a log will be posted for it. This happens in real time ICly--characters will pick their match as they head up to the stage, out of whoever remains. OOCly, this is done via submitting your character's top three picks here, to compensate for the fact that expecting everyone to be around for a couple hour window is Tough. The top three matches OOCly represent "who they would pick if they were first to go up", "who they would pick if their first choice was already chosen", etc.
- Also on Saturday!: The outcome of the match-up ceremony will be posted, bit by bit, to Amp Up The Drama. Like this!
And then we loop back around to Monday, where a fresh week full of new challenges and drama await your character.
Mechanics FAQ
So now that we've gone over how a standard week in AYTO works, let's go over a few quick Q&A items that I've seen pop up a fair amount over the past two rounds.
After the match-up ceremony, will they know what perfect matches they found?
Nope! They will only know how many. This will be represented by lights that are lit up for each perfect match that they found. As to what character duos those lights represent, well... that's what you have to find out!
How do we lose a wish?
You can only lose a wish if you encounter a blackout. This occurs if no perfect matches are found at all (so named because no lights will be lit), or if you already found a perfect match via the truth booth, but don't find any other new ones.
How do I use the Boom Boom Room?
Every week there will be a toplevel that you can reply to. Just say who's going in there with you and I'll set up a private log for you guys that will be unlocked when the game is over! No, comments are not screened. Yes, people can see you two go into the Boom Boom Room. That's the risk you take.
How do dates work now that the competitions have been taken out?
Much like the Boom Boom Room, players will now be able to request dates, via a toplevel on the log. I'll whip up a fun log for y'all to go on a cute date in.
